1. What do Medical Assistants do?

Medical assistants perform various administrative and clinical tasks to support healthcare professionals. These tasks may include taking patients' vital signs, recording medical histories, preparing patients for exams, performing venipunctures and injections, assisting during procedures, scheduling appointments, insurance verifications, and etc.

2. What qualifications are needed to become a Medical Assistant?

Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but is not required. Must be 18 years old. Some employers prefer candidates to obtain training from a Certified Instructor and a certificate of completion.

3. Where do Medical Assistants work?

Medical Assistants can work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, physicians' offices, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities. They may also find employment in specialty practices such as pediatrician, podiatry, gynecology offices, and etc.

4. What skills are important for a Medical Assistant?

Medical assistants should have strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers. Attention to detail is crucial for accurately recording patient information and performing clinical tasks. Additionally, organizational skills are essential for managing administrative duties and prioritizing tasks efficiently.

 

5. Is there room for advancement as a Medical Assistant?

Yes, there are opportunities for advancement within the medical assistant profession. With experience and additional education, medical assistants may pursue roles such as office managers, or even transition into other healthcare careers such as nursing or healthcare administration.

6. How long is the course?

Our Medical Assistant training is a 2 day (5 hours each day) course provided in an actual medical office setting. During the 2 days, you will be taught how to successfully perform venipunctures, injections, verify insurance, and various front/back office tasks and procedures. We will also discuss OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and etc. Everything discussed during the course will be on the certification exam. After completion of the course and obtaining your certification, you will have access to externship where you'll gain extra training, resume building, and interview prep.

7. How do I become a Certified Medical Assistant?

To become certified as a medical assistant, you typically need to complete an accredited medical assisting program (preferred but not required) and pass a certification exam. You may also undergo a detailed training course provided by a Certified Medical Assistant Instructor (certified by American Medical Technologists- AMT) and pass a certification exam to test you knowledge and skills. The most recognized certification for medical assistants is the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Most hospitals require certification through AAMA. 

8. What is Medical Assistant Certification?

Medical Assistant Certification is a credential awarded to individuals who have met the training and examination requirements set forth by certifying organizations. It demonstrates proficiency in medical assisting skills and knowledge.

9. Why should I become certified as a Medical Assistant?

Certification increases your employment opportunities and earning potential. Many employers prefer or require certification as it signifies a standardized level of competency and professionalism in the field. Certification also demonstrates your commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

10. How do I register for the course?

To register for the course, click on the register tab and follow the prompts. You can also register by calling the office. 

11. How long does medical assistant certification last?

Medical Assistant certification is valid for 2 years, after which it must be renewed to maintain active status.

12. Can I transfer my medical assistant certification to another state?

Yes, medical assistant certification is generally transferable between states, although you may need to meet any additional requirements imposed by the state's regulatory board or certifying organization. It's essential to check with the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with local regulations.

13. What are the benefits of maintaining medical assistant certification?

Maintaining your medical assistant certification demonstrates your commitment to upholding professional standards and staying current with advancements in the field. It can also enhance your credibility with employers, patients, and colleagues. Additionally, maintaining certification may be required for employment or advancement opportunities in some healthcare settings.

14. Is this course suitable for someone with no medical background?

Absolutely! You'll receive hands on clinical training in a medical office setting where you'll learn Front/Back Office administrative and clinical fundamentals (how to perform venipunctures, injections, blood pressure checks, EKG, a Spirometry test, Check-in/Check-Out, and etc). You'll also have access to externship in our medical office to gain extra training and experience if needed. Upon completion of the program, you will be equipped with skills needed to set out on a rewarding career path. Because we want you to succeed, we will assist with resume building, coaching, and interview prep to prepare you for the job position. 15. How soon can I apply for a job after obtaining certification?

Immediately! Almost all students are hired immediately after completion of the course. Additional training is provided during externship if needed.
